Hi hey hello,
Today is one of my best friend’s birthdays. She is turning 17, isn’t she old! Anyway, so, being her best friends, we asked her what she wanted for her birthday. She basically told us she would get back to us, so I got an email last night that detailed what she wanted for her birthday. She did not list the typical things that people ask for, or give the “I have no idea, get me whatever” answer. She simply said that she wanted to have us donate things to a Women’s Pregnancy Center. She gave a few suggestions and then said what she specifically wanted. She said she wanted love for her birthday, love for a baby. That right there, ladies and gentlemen, is something that matters. That is inspirational. She does not want things for herself, she recognizes that we need nothing, she sees the need and that what she wants to help solve. I cannot help but ponder that. I posted a rant a few weeks ago that birthdays are supposed to be about you. That is awful, no they are not. Birthdays are just a celebration, not for gift getting, why not help someone else when people are in a giving mood? That is just such a cool sentiment.
