The battle rages on, as storm and tempest roar. We cannot win this fight, inside our rebel hearts. We’re laying down our weapons now. We raise our white flag, we surrender all to You, all for You.

Hi hey hello,

I hope you all had a fantastic Monday! Mine was rather uneventful, other than the 4 hour long AP Calculus study session at Sonny’s, everything went normally. This past weekend was amazing however. As many of you know, I attended Inside Out 2012 on Friday, and I got to sing in the choir with the RISE band. First off, such an amazing experience. I was a tad bit nervous before hand, but once we got up there, it was just a worship session, no pressure, just singing to God. SO AWESOME.

After we did our deal, we got to listen to one of the speakers talk. He spoke about 2 Corinthians 5, specifically verse 21. The quote I put up yesterday was one of the things he said that impacted me the most. Think about it, 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, ” For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (emphasis added by me) He did know sin, Jesus never committed a single sin. He never got angry and cursed out His neighbor, never thought an evil thought, never lusted, never desired what someone else possessed, He never told a lie, never did any of the awful things me and you do on a moment-by-moment basis. If we just sit back and think about all the bad things we have done in say, the past 24 hours, if we are honest with ourselves, that really adds up. That white lie you told, that utterance of the Lord’s name under your breath, that lustful thought, all those things are our sins, and Jesus NEVER did any of those things.

He never did any of it, and yet He died for those that did. Now that right there is some good news. But not only did He die for us, He rose again. He rose from the grave and walked among His people. He defeated death. He conquered it, so that we don’t have to experience eternal death. That is so amazing!

This is such an amazing story that how could we not want to tell people about it. If we even have a mite of compassion for people in us, and as Christians, we are supposed to, it would be horribly selfish and cruel to not tell people about this. There really is no such thing as a true camouflage Christian. We cannot, we must not, sit back and fade into the background, Christians are called to go out and tell this breath-taking story. We are called to go tell people our love story, of how the Father loved us, and thought we ran from Him, He loved us and sent His Son to die for us, so we could be with Him, forever.

What are your thoughts on this amazing story?

Title Lyrics: White Flag

The crowd was not loud enough. The cross was not strong enough. The grave was not deep enough, to quiet His love. We’ll live out faith out loud. We’ll hope beyond all doubt.

Hi hey hello,

I had quite an eventful weekend, but I will save all the fun details for tomorrow. For today, just a statement to think about.

When they put that spike through His left hand, it was for my thought life.

When they put that spike through His right hand, that is the secret sin that no one knows about.

When they put that spike through His feet, that was for the sins I will commit in the future.

That was something that was said at Inside Out 2012 that really impacted me.

You will be safe in His arms. ‘Cause the hands that hold the world are holding your heart. This is the promise He made, He will be with You always. When everything is falling apart, you will be safe in His arms.

Hi hey hello,

Last night at youth we were in Acts 22 and 23, once again. We have been studying Acts for like at least a year now. It is such a great study though. Anyway, last night our youth pastor brought up the fact that when we are doing things for God, it really isn’t about results. Every time you go to a younger student’s sports game or share the gospel with someone, you will not necessarily get the results you think you should. Sharing Christ isn’t about results. While yes, we do want people to come to know the overwhelming, unfathomable love of Christ, you can’t go into it expecting that just because you said something like this or used that analogy that the person will have a revelation and come to Christ.

God is the one doing it all. All we are called to do is be obedient. We may not get the results we think we should, but we have to be obedient. It isn’t about the results, so we should be encouraged. That should also make us want to as Nike says “Just do it.” Get out there and share the gospel. What happens doesn’t rest on our shoulders. This goes for me too. I definitely don’t do this like I should. I really want to get better though. It isn’t about if I say it right or speak well, it is about trusting God, being obedient, and believing that God has it in His control.

Does this encourage you? I hope it does!

Title Lyrics: Safe – Phil Wickham

It isn’t about results! How encouraging

Cause we’re stirring up deep deep wells, we’re stirring up deep deep waters. We’re going to jump in the river, jump in and everybody singing now. Deep cries out to deep cries out to, deep cries out to deep cries out to. So we cry out to, we cry out to, you Jesus.

Hi hey hello,

So, over the past few months, I have really been trying to grow closer to God, and God has been drawing me in, little by little, but one thing I feel is lacking, is the show for that on my blog. I feel like if this blog is supposed to be about my life and what I think and feel, then God should most definitely be apart of that. I do not know how to describe why I haven’t included Him into this before, well I have just not as much as I should. God is supposed to be wrapped up in EVERYTHING I do, not just on Sundays and Wednesdays. He is supposed to be my everything, and when someone is your everything, you  cannot ever stop talking about that person.

Why is it that when we are in love with a human being, a person who sins, messes up, hurts us, lets us down, and cannot ever be what we need, we still are completely enraptured with them, when a PERFECT God loves us and will never let us down is there, and we ignore Him. We tell anyone who will listen about the person we love, but are scared to tell others about our faith. I want to be so in love with God that anyone who will listen is going to hear about Him, how loving, good, just, merciful, beautiful, and awe-inspiring He is.

So, all that to say, I want God to be in every part of my life, and that is something I want to work on, so here is one step, including Him in my blog, which happens to be a rather large part of my life. I am not saying that I will go crazy with it, and preach at everyone in every post, but I want God to be present. I know that some people reading may be turned off by this, they may not want to read this blog anymore, and that is okay with me, because I am doing what I feel I am supposed to do right now. I am not doing this for the attention, fame, or an audience, I am doing this because I love my God and I want everyone to know about it.

Are you gonna waste your time thinkin’ how you’ve grown up or how you missed out? Things are never gonna be the way you want.

Hi hey hello,

I hope you all had as a splendiferous a day  as I did. There was nothing really particularly special about it, perhaps it is this time of year, or maybe the impending vacation time, or perhaps it is the sense of accomplishment at finishing yet another AP Macroeconomics assignment. I am not really sure what it is, but today has been awesome.

We had another game today, and yes, in case you were somehow counting, we have had 3 games without a practice… It is a bit crazy, but it is a learning experience to say the least. We are doing well, we had our first lead in a varsity level game tonight. That was quite a thrill to be a part of.

I just read a blog post over at Talin’s blog about knowing you are special. This sort of got me thinking about that and how negative our society can be. What if we focused more on the positive, not neglecting the negative because that is how we grow, but perhaps focusing on what we have and not so much what we do not have. Especially in this time of year, we as Americans are all about what we WANT , what if we focused more on what we have and be grateful for that, and turn that into helping others, who actually NEED things. I am not saying that for Christmas this year you should only give things to others and not receive anything, though that would be amazing. Sometimes we do need things, but being grateful for what we do have can go a long way in our perspective.

Title Lyrics: A Praise Chorus – Jimmy Eat World

What are some ways we can help our society this Christmas? How can we try to focus more on the positive?

If the bombs go off, the sun will still be shining. Because we’ve heard it said that, Every mushroom cloud has a silver lining

Hi hey hello,

So, today is the day. The big day, Turkey Day, Engorge Yourself Days, otherwise known as Thanksgiving. This day is so widely celebrated as a day where we get together as families and eat food, and then watch football, the eat some more food, and maybe even consume some spirits. But do we really remember why we celebrate this holiday, we are supposed to be thankful for what we have. Now, I do not want to rant on and on, so I will move on.

I want to not just be thankful today, but every day of my life, because I am so blessed. I mean, I have three good meals a day, a big comfy bed, enough clothing, a roof over my head. That is a lot more than a lot of people in the world can claim to have. I also have a family, with two parents and lots of siblings, that more than a lot of people in America alone can claim to have. On this day every year, people sit down and think about what they are thankful for, but then move on. Why not be thankful everyday? I want to be able to say each day that I found something to be thankful for, no matter how huge or minuscule.

I will begin this challenge with a list however, of the things I am thankful for in my life.  I will keep it brief because I have scores of things to be grateful for:

What I Am Thankful For:

  • Family – who love and support me
  • Friends – who are there to kick me into shape when I need it
  • God – to loves me and guides me even when I am a total jerk
  • Music – for keeping me sane
  • You guys! – for encouraging me and keeping me accountable for this little blog

I love you guys! I hope you have a splendiferous Thanksgiving, full of family, thanks, friends, love, and of course a little food. I will hopefully have pictures up from our party this weekend!

What are you thankful for? Family? Friends? Work? School?
